Faction History
The Holy Order of the Knights of Ullr – more commonly known as The Knights of Ullr – are an ancient order with a deep but mostly forgotten history. The original Holy Order of Knights – dedicated to the worship of their God, Ullr, hailed from Castle Cosantóir and were named Cosantóirians. This is the ancestral heritage of The Knights of Ullr. However, for reasons unknown to history, the original Order fell, and the castle and the Cosantóirians, along with The Holy Order of the Knights of Ullr, were lost to the mists of time.
A millennia passed before Ullr showed Himself again, in His true form once more, to a lone Ranger. The Divine spirit was now marred by the sin and avarice of a new cult of followers. He sought to make amends with the folk of Orin Rakatha, so He bade the Ranger to leave the trees and don arms in His name and resurrect His noble Order. He was to spread justice and honour, thus mending Ullr’s tarnished essence.
The Ranger obeyed and, taking a new Oath, The Knights of Ullr was reborn! The fellowship swiftly grew in both number and reputation and Ullr became known as The God Redeemed…
Faction Beliefs
The Knights of Ullr are devout followers of Ullr the Redeemed; a god of divine wrath, honour and justice. They are a religious knightly order, and as so have rules and laws they must follow and swear an oath that they must hold to.
You will oft hear them calling their rallying cry, “For wrath, for honour, for justice!” These are the key virtues that underpin the oath that the Knights take upon joining the Order. If their oath is broken, a Knight can face punishment, penitence and even expulsion from the Order.
The Order’s encampment serves as a refuge for all in need, welcoming those who wish to partake in a drink, listen to the word of Ullr, or simply rest at their Round Table – Sir Cumference.
Newcomers to the Order begin as a ‘Page to the Order’, and after a Year and a Day of successful service, they will be knighted into the Order and take their Oath, thus becoming an official Knight of Ullr.
Though the new Lord Commander leads the Order, he is a just Lord, and significant matters are resolved through a ‘Council of the Round Table’ – where high ranking or long serving members of the Knights may partake and have a say in important matters of the Order.
They are formidable in battle, and wield only the sorcery their Court Wizard has, preferring swords above staves.
Each year, they are known to host the venerable Knights Tournament, a tradition brought from distant lands by a fellow Knight of the Order.
They are ever ready to assist the needy, right any wrongs, and perhaps even bestow knighthood upon a deserving soul – all in the name of their God, Ullr the Redeemed.
Faction Friends & Foes
The Knights of Ullr travel the lands in order to both redeem the good name of their God and to spread His word. They are a kindly and Lawful Good faction, and this naturally lends to a dislike of evil-doers and ‘morally-grey’ actions.
The Knights are known to keep the peace and rise above petty squabbles wherever they can.
