LARP/LRP HeroFest Rules - Faction Skills
These skills are some of the most powerful upon the Herofest LARP world of Orin Rakatha, and they help give each Faction its own flavour and colour, and unique skills only available to members of that Faction. These skills are the first stage of a progression that the Factions may learn for their members. A Faction skill affects only members of the Faction. To activate a Faction skill the Faction will require three key parts;
Primary
The primary is a permanent object that must either be found, bartered for, created or purchased. Once it is under the control of the Faction it can be used to develop multiple Faction skills (over the course of several events) or to enact the same (or similar) Faction skill on multiple Factions.
The Factions are already aware of the existence of a number of types of primary, these are;
| Forge | Laboratory | Altar Stone |
| Library | Mill | Palantir |
| Press | Tannery | Loom |
| Raikiya Totem | Dragon's Egg | Spear of Might |
| The Reliquary | The Brazier | The Crystal Skull |
Components
These are used up by the Primary to create the Faction skill for 1 event The Factions are already aware of the existence of a number of types of components, these are;
| Iron Ore | Leather | Silver |
| Gold | Troll Head | Bone |
| Indigo | Fey Hair | Papyrus |
| Tin | Jasmine Flowers | Silk Worms |
| Belladonna | Truffles | Sharks Teeth |
Ritual
This must be performed on the event to activate the non-permanent Faction skills. It is specific to each Faction.
Example
The Celestial Bureaucracy Faction wish to maintain the 'balance' and their Faction skill will allow them to trade any single commodity with the traders Faction for any other commodity or gest and favour notes of like value regardless of the exchange rate – the may do this as long as the Traders have stock.
To do this they require a Palantir and 20 Jasmine Flowers (which are consumed on the event) and the whole Faction must carry out 15 minutes of contemplative tai-chi to maintain the 'balance'.
