Herofest LARP - Misthaven Academy

Located within the Festival Lands, you can find the Misthaven Academy

The Academy is not a school, nor is it a university.

It is not a place you just come to study and learn particular subjects and then leave again and it is not where you come to listen to teachers rambling on for hours whilst you struggle to stay awake.

It is not a place that will put you through traumatic exams or tests, and lastly, it is not a place that can provide a ‘quick fix’, nor a place that provides reward for little or no effort.

The Academy is a place that primarily deals in personal growth and advancement.

It is a place where knowledge resides and a place where it is shared. The Academy is a place where you can learn, can teach, can share, and a place where each student controls their individual paths and progress through life. It is a place full of creative minds that seek to advance their own knowledge whilst also encouraging others to do the same.

Misthaven Academy is both an establishment that you can aid and one that can also aid you. The more effort you put into Academy projects the more you can advance your own personal growth.

It is also a dry, and often quite warm, place to come and hang out !

Academy staff have no racial bias, faction affiliation, religious intolerance, or political agenda. They even tolerate goblins!

As such, all are welcome to come and chat, learn some things, and often find things to do.

Joining the Academy is completely free and it will never cost you anything apart from time

Ritual Circle

Outside of the Academy Tent, can be found the Ritual Circle, and many of the Ritual Masters, that can grant access to the Ritual Circle, can often be found within the Academy tent.

More information about Ritual Magic can be found here »

Academy Journal

The Academy Journal is a publication, which are then distributed freely, although in limited numbers, among the Factions.

The vast majority of the content within each Journal is player written. This means that the more often the players volunteer/submit these articles the more often that the Journals get published.

Do you see yourself as a roving reporter? Have you ever wanted to be a fantasy journalist? Do you want the Academy to help you but don’t know how to earn that help? This is a good place to start!

Content ranges from factual recollections of the events, to light hearted articles, to puzzles and quizzes, to lonely hearts and horoscopes. If you can create it the Journal will likely publish it. Rumour and wild allegations also accepted (and encouraged!).

Previous issues of the Journal - can be found here »
